Portia's 1st day in 1st Grade!

Portia was beyond elated to return back to school this year.

Unfortunately, Genevieve was sick and couldn't attend in person, so I shot some pix and videos for her to view.

I thought the whole family might like to share little girl's bliss as well.

Portia reunites with best friend, Vera.

Portia's first grade teacher, Emily.

The school staff sang a welcome song.

They held a welcoming ceremony dedicated exclusively to the first graders. The eighth graders, who will be graduating now from Madrone Trail, were paired with the first graders—symbolizing the wise guiding the young.

When each child's name was called, an eighth grader appeared by their side to walk them through a veiled tunnel, where they received a rose from their teacher,

Miss Emily, when they emerged at the other end.

(Sorry, Porshee, about Wolfe being so late in the alphabet!)

Daddy escorts an excited little girl into her into the class.

Porshee has her very own desk this year!

Besties Reunite

I'm getting a contact high here ... remembering how it felt having a bestie in elementary school.  I was lucky to have two. And interestingly, ... both were Aries ... and both named Paul.

You know you have a soul bestie when you both show up wearing sports sweatshirts on the first day of school ...

unplanned of course.

We got another up close and personal welcoming

after school ... of the divine kind.

The Lithia Park deers came right up to us.

A Tribe-ute to Community Mentality & Conscious Divorces

My past has been more about giving more than receiving.   But, changes on that level are showing already in how on this very first day of school three mothers actually approached me  on their own ~ about either car-pooling or getting our kids together on non-school days, etc.

One in particular was Corine ... mother of one of Portia's favorite schoolmates, Quinlan.

I especially applaud her for being among the other conscious divorcées I have as friends ...

whereby, she and her son's father, Daniel, are still very loving and supportive to each other,

... which is obviously the healthiest thing for their

son.  Even her new man, Olas, has total respect for a not only amicable, but truly caring relationship between Quinlan's biological parents.

The only way it should ever be.

bday

Portia invited just a few of her favorite friends ... as well as her half-sister and brother, Ellie and Isaak.

Her sibling's dad, Olen, never usually let's them go anywhere.  So, we were happily surprised when he

actually allowed them to come to Portia's party.  So, she had a great time and especially appreciated and

loved all the presents everyone sent.  Thank you all.

I am no longer legally Isaak's step-father.  Yet, having raised him for 7 years of his life since he was just one and a half, he sees me as a father as much as I see him as a son.  Legal technicalities have no deterrence on the deep love Isaak and I have for each other ~ it's like some sad Shakespearian play where two are being kept from each other.

As such, we have to find innovative ways to connect with each other to do things like archery, as you can see below.

Isaak's such a noble lad, his love is so loyal and true ... it melts my heart.  He has his mother's best traits ... and who knows, maybe some of mine too.  He tells me when he's of age no one will stop him from coming to hang with me whenever he wants.  He's really wanted to come down with us to meet all of you too.  Perhaps he will someday.  :)

Say "Hi" to Portia!
